All your questions answered!
Here are the most commonly asked questions that we receive here at the Wellness Training Institute… and all the answers!
Can we help everyone?
No. Of course not. It would be crazy to think we could help everyone. That’s why we start with a consultation. We need to get to know each other. Before we can even begin to figure out a solution to your health issues, we need to see if we are a good fit for each other. We don’t want mediocre results for you, we want you to have GREAT results. We will never make a promise we can’t keep. And honestly? If you do a program with us, you are the one that does the work. But, if we are aligned and have put everything on the table in the consultation together, we will partner with you to help you on your health journey.
Do you take insurance?
It’s not that we don’t accept insurance, but unfortunately, insurance covers pills and procedures which are the things we hope you don’t continue to need!
So, that leads to…
Is it affordable?
It is. Especially over the long term. The majority of people we work with are on some sort of fixed income and are able to afford the program, get back their health, and actually save tons of money in the following months and years thanks to not having to have expensive treatments, surgeries, and medications that they were headed for. We have a wide range of financing options so if you are willing to invest in your health, there is typically something we can work out!
What if I live out of town?
We work with many people out of town. We have a whole virtual curriculum designed specifically for remote situations. We offer video training, Skype calls, weekly check-in emails, and honestly, whatever else you might need. It doesn’t matter where in the world you are… we’re still there for you 100% of the time!
How long is the program?
The length of the program is typically between 3 and 15 months. The length depends on where you are in your health journey, along with how quickly we anticipate you to progress. For most, we design a program for at least six months.
How much time will it take me each day?
It might take a few more minutes a day in the kitchen, but the program is designed for people with busy lives. There are plenty of “health” retreats you can hit pause on your life, fly out, and attend. The problem with that model is that once you come back to your regular life, the habits you forged during that time tend to dissolve on impact. Instead, our program is designed to align with your regular life. We want to teach you new healthy habits within the scope of the life you’re going to be living for the rest of your life. That’s how real change happens. Why? Because the habits stick.
What do you actually do?
Here at the Wellness Training Institute, we run programs for people who are looking to lose weight, get healthy, prevent or reverse disease, and get their lives back. We focus on what we call the five pillars of health: nutrition, fitness, detoxification, hormone testing and attention to reducing stress while supporting your nervous system. We do this by giving you the information that you need to know, and the tools to build the healthy habits that make up what it means to be healthy. (For more details, refer to this post about how the program works [INSERT LINK TO HOW HEALTHFUL EVOLUTIONS WORKS.]
Do you have To be vegan?
No. Dr. Dangovian and Nicole are (and would encourage you to give it a shot!) but it’s not required. Less than 15% of the people we help are vegan. Besides, “being vegan” isn’t some magic bullet for sustainable health. You can, for example, be an unhealthy vegan. Our goal is your success, and we are more than willing to adapt the program to fit what that means for you.
Do I have to go to the gym?
You can. But you don’t have to. Everybody’s different. We’re all at different levels. The only rule when it comes to the topic is this: Just keep moving. Find what works for you and then do it.
Can I do it? Is it manageable?
YES! We work slowly. That’s how we get the results we do. We’ll never ask you to have everything figured right away. We only ask that you get just a little bit better each day.
What if I travel?
No problem. You’ll just need to do a little planning. You’ll need access to a fridge. You might want to get some supplements to serve as a nutritional safety net. The point is, you can do everything in the program on the go. (We had a member last year who went through the entire program while simultaneously working remotely while he worked on one of the candidate’s presidential campaigns. He excelled. It just takes a little extra planning.)
Is now the right time?
Yes! You’re as young as you’re ever gonna be. It is never too late to start. But here’s the thing: Know that there are no magic pills. Getting healthy requires work. So, if you’re not ready to do the work, now isn’t the greatest time to start. Along those same lines, though, there’s never a perfect time of year to get healthy. There’s always something going on, and there will always be excuses. But here’s the thing: You’re worth it. You have one life. And you don’t have to be miserable.
What if I go to someone’s house for dinner?
This can be a little tricky. It really depends on the relationship. Food, after all, is emotional, so showing up at someone’s dinner party and refusing to eat anything could be a bit problematic. That’s why communication is vital. Let the other person know what you’re doing beforehand. Heck, blame it on your doctors if you have to! The key is to be honest and authentic. Bring food… enough to share! Because here’s the thing. People want to spend time with you. That’s why they invited you over. And as long as you communicate things clearly, the event should go swimmingly.
Do I have to eat your food?
Nope. We don’t sell food. Why? Because programs like that fail. You might do well for a little while on something like Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers, but when you go back to your old ways of eating, things go downhill quickly. Our goal isn’t to tell you what to eat. We want to teach you how to shop, which foods are best for you, and why. We want to teach you to be healthy within the parameters of your own life.
Do I have to take supplements?
We view supplements as a security blanket. I wish we could get everything from our food. But the soil is different than it was even a few decades ago, so supplements for some people are going to be the right option. As far as having to take supplements goes, the answer is no. Not unless you want to.
Can I eat out?
You sure can. You just have to learn how to order custom dishes at restaurants. In 99% of places, you’ll be able to find something delicious and nutritious to eat. We’ll teach you how to do it.
How much time does it take to prep food?
Food prep takes less than 2 hours in the kitchen each week. Plus, we’ll give you a ton of easy, delicious ideas to make for both you and your family.
You guys seem a tad extreme. What about that old saying, “everything in moderation”?
Moderation doesn’t work. We as humans just aren’t designed to handle it. With food, for example, you have to eliminate all the bad stuff to get free of the cravings. “Cheat days” just make everything harder. It messes you up psychologically. It sounds counterintuitive, but it’s true… it’s a lot harder to do 75, 85, or 95% than it is to jump all in and give 100%
Can I talk to my doctor about it?
Absolutely. But, keep this in mind. Most doctors haven’t been trained in nutrition, so they might not understand what our program is about. They’re trained to offer diagnoses and write prescriptions. But, here’s the thing… We would love to work WITH your doctor, and we won’t do anything against their recommendations.
